Feeling mediocre? Feeling average? My advice is to simply keep doing mediocrity until you can no longer stomach it.
… and when you reach that tipping point where you can no longer stomach it? Flip it around and go “all in” on being exceptional.
I know this is completely contradictory to 99% of all the “self help” advice out there, which says that you should kill any mediocrity (or desire for mediocrity) within you… and smother any “averageness” with uplifting(!!) motivation.
But the problem with this mainstream approach is this: the reason why you are spending hours each day watching TV or on your phone is because deep down a part of you is CHOOSING this mediocrity – at least at this moment. And since “that which you resist persists,” the more you fight it, the harder it fights back.
… Whereas on the flipside, FULL ACCEPTANCE resumes flow. Therefore a much more powerful way to eliminate unwanted mediocrity from your life is to fully embrace it. Burn it up. Revel in the mediocrity. Fully accept it.
Because this “mediocrity stage” isn’t going to last forever – (people’s biggest fear is that it will) – but not for you. Actually, the fact that you’re reading this right now tells me it’s in your cards to play at a higher, more powerful level.
And so keep doing and enjoying mediocrity. Burn it all up. Get it all out of your system. Keep doing it until you can no longer stomach it.
And then, when you reach that point? Step into being the hero of your life story. Commit to love completely. Align with your highest self. Go all in. Because it’s only at this point that you will deep down WANT to go all in. You will no longer have any interest in hanging out in the sphere of mediocrity.
(This is a MUCH more effective approach than trying to force change prematurely from a place of guilt and “shoulding”).
It’s only once the pain of not living your truth exceeds the fear of what that entails, that the change will happen all on its own. Until then, enjoy the ride:)
